Hello, Holcomb Kindergarten Families -

First off, welcome to Holcomb Elementary School! We are excited to meet and educate your children as they begin their academic journey.  Because we know that Kindergarten can be both an exciting and anxious time for parents (and students), we wanted to make sure that we are adequately communicating with parents of incoming Kindergarten students early so that there is little confusion about the timeline and processes as school gets underway.

To start,  Holcomb defines success in school as academic, behavioral, and emotional success. We design our Kindergarten program with this in mind. During the first week of school (September 5th,  6th, and 7th), we have a "Staggered Start” for Kindergarten students. In this “Staggered Start” format, Kindergarten students attend in small groups to become familiar with school routines, staff, and facilities. While students will visit all Kindergarten teachers during that school day,  they will only attend one full day of school that week.  Class lists will be completed by Friday morning and parents and students would then have the opportunity to participate in a Kindergarten Open House/Teacher "Meet and Greet" that afternoon.

Schedule for the first week of school:

  • Tuesday, September 5th:

    • Last names that begin with A-F come to school, 7:55 am – 2:10 pm

  • Wednesday, September 6th:

    • Last names that begin with G-M come to school, 7:55 am – 2:10 pm

  • Thursday, September 7th:

    • Last names that begin with N-Z come to school, 7:55 am – 2:10 pm

  • Friday, September 8th:

    • No School for kindergarten students. Kindergarten class lists will be shared via phone and email with families. Kindergarten Open House to meet your assigned teacher is 3:00 - 4:30 pm.

As we get closer to the start of the school year, additional information will be sent out to families concerning your students’  “Staggered Start” date, as well additional information around school suppliestransportation, and other school information.

Please continue to check your email these next two weeks as we will be sending out additional information around the start of the school year.

As always, we appreciate your partnership as parents and caregivers to our Holcomb students.

Best,

Josh Bryan (Principal, Holcomb Elementary)
